The customer’s correctional communications platform suffered from poor call quality and no secure real-time messaging, undermining the relationships it existed to support. Compliance monitoring relied on manual review, slowing detection of flagged content, while weak identity verification left communication privileges vulnerable to unauthorized access. Together, these challenges limited how safely and effectively the platform could scale across facilities.
Solution
10Pearls rebuilt the correctional communications platform on AWS around four capabilities: real-time communication, automated compliance monitoring, AI-assisted oversight, and secure identity verification. Voice, video, and in-app messaging run on a single communication layer built with the Amazon Chime SDK, with outbound and inbound calls routed through an IVR flow that captures consent before any conversation begins.
Amazon Transcribe converts every voice and video conversation into accurate, searchable text, automatically screened for flagged or suspicious content, turning compliance monitoring from manual sampling into full, auditable coverage. Generative AI models accessed through Amazon Bedrock summarize conversations and surface key topics, letting administrators review the substance of a call in seconds instead of reading full transcripts.
At login, Amazon Rekognition performs a real-time facial scan against each user’s enrolled image, granting access only to verified users and closing a critical identity gap. The result is a modular platform where each capability scales independently, with facility-wide control over communication built in by design.
