Legacy web applications presented a number of performance challenges, including poor user experience and inaccessibility. The monolithic build made it difficult to make updates and introduced several security and compliance risks, which limited scalability and increased maintenance overhead.
The broader architecture had issues beyond performance and maintainability. Its data protection and encryption were insufficient at both transit and rest (as per HIPAA standards), and access control was fragmented. Lack of audit trail and security protocols also weakened its compliance posture.
10Pearls conducted a comprehensive overhaul of the web applications and supporting architecture, starting with an assessment of HIPAA risk dimensions to prevent violations. The performance issues were traced back to a number of factors, including but not limited to the monolithic code base. An optimization strategy was developed to refactor the old code and architecture for a more flexible, modular built with embedded security and compliance. We also revamped the UX for improved user engagement.
The supporting architecture was revamped for HIPAA compliance as well. We enhanced data security at both rest and transit through encryption and prevented manual breaches and human errors (as per HIPAA directive) by implementing strong access control. We also tightened network security across access points and reconfigured cloud settings for both optimization and security.
